How to Use ChatGPT to Summarize Insurance Policies for Clients

The Secret Prompt: "Act as an insurance expert. Summarize the 'Exclusions' section of this policy into 3 bullet points for a 5th grader. Focus only on what is NOT covered." Never paste PII (Personal Identifiable Information) into public AI models.

The "Tl;dr" Problem

Clients don't read policies. They don't even read your emails explaining the policies. They just want to know: "Am I covered if my basement floods?"

The Prompt Strategy

Do NOT paste client data into public ChatGPT. That is a security violation. Instead, paste the policy form text (generic) and use the secret prompt above.

The Output

You'll get something like:

  • āŒ Flood from outside: Not covered.
  • āŒ Sewage backup: Not covered (unless you added that endorsement).
  • āœ… Burst pipe: Covered.

Copy-paste that into your email. You just saved 15 minutes and your client actually understands you.
